The Last Time
When you sell your car and you watch the happy new owners drive away, you know that was the last time you’ll put that key in the ignition. When you plan a wonderful holiday and the two weeks are up, you know that is the last time you’ll close the door to that apartment or cottage. When you take that journey to the vets, and the unimaginable happens, you know that is the last time you will look into those faithful eyes.
Happy times and sad times, frightening times and exciting times.
But how many things stop happening and you can’t remember when was the last time you did them?
Which was the last day you carried your child? Which was the very last time you skipped? What was the date of your last carefree day?
You don’t know it’s your last, at the time.
So we should live more with appreciation of the day, the present moment because one day it will be our last.
The beginning of the journey is the first breath in and the end of the journey is the last breath out. Breathing is automatic, you can’t forget to do it. So pay homage to your breath…appreciate the breath of the trees, for you will never know the last time that they take a breath.
We will be long gone as a species.
They will remember us, but they may not remember the last time we breathed together.
